Common Name: sweat bee
Scientific Name: Lasioglossum pavonotum
Flight season: March-September

Recognition characters: Medium sized, slender; thorax has a metallic green or rusty luster, abdomen marked with pale horizontal bands; males (7-9 mm) smaller than females (8-12 mm) and often hang out in small groups on vegetation near floral resources; females carry pollen in scopae (brushes of specialized hair) located on the hind legs; easily disturbed.

Nest sites: Aggregations of several to many nests can be observed in consolidated sand banks of all sizes.
